Your Sedation Options

Making your dental appointment painless and comfortable.

Nitrous Oxide

The nitrous oxide is administered through a nose hood throughout the entire procedure. Nitrous oxide elevates the general mood and can evoke an overall sense of well-being. Most importantly, it relieves anxiety and reduces pain during the procedure. You can drive yourself to and from each appointment when using nitrous oxide.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral medication is provided prior to treatment, and then nitrous oxide is added to induce a more profound state of sedation. You are still “awake,” but your senses are dulled. This means that most patients cannot remember the pain, smells, or noises associated with the dental procedure. You will need a driver to and from the appointment when oral medication is used.

IV Sedation

Patients who have previously experienced IV sedation report that the sedation made them sleep through the entire procedure. When you are sedated, a treatment taking several hours will feel like minutes. Dentists typically use this type of sedation for longer procedures or more complicated oral surgeries, but they can also use it for simple fillings or even cleanings. You will need to arrange for a driver to take you to and from the appointment when you receive IV sedation.

I am so pleased with the care I received from Dr. Giles and his team at Hadlock Dental Center. My exam was unhurried, informative, shame free, and compassionate. Treatment options were reviewed with me in a way I understood, and my insurance coverage was explained so I knew what would and would not be covered and approximately how much I would need to pay out of pocket.

I have never been so comfortable during a filling in my life. I almost fell asleep! Great place and very kind. Highly recommend for those who have dentist anxiety!

I took my young boy in for an emergency visit. We had no appointment, but the office was able to fit us in. All of the staff were great with my son, and the dentist in particular was wonderful with him. He was able to connect with my son and help him feel comfortable in the dentist's chair, even though he was in pain.

This is one dentist you can actually look forward to going to! Fantastic staff that takes great care of their patients with a fun and friendly attitude.

I had a bridge, which was installed by another dentist years ago, come out, and one of the supporting teeth was pretty much crumbled away. Dr. Gile was able to see me very quickly and evaluate the situation. I was scheduled for an extraction a few weeks out, as it was not an urgent issue, and when I went in for the procedure, everything about the visit was friendly, relaxed, and positive. Shoot, it almost felt like fun!

Such a wonderful (and clean!) office! The staff was so kind and patient with me. I felt at ease, comfortable, and in the loop throughout my entire appointment!
